Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim — I’ve always loved that quote. My tendency has always been to avoid conflict, this reminds me that’s not always wise.
I’m struggling to keep quiet on Facebook. Most of my friends are like-minded, but some family members are not. If they post an offensive post, am I entitled to engage and rebut? Whatever I do or say, it won’t change their minds. Just as they won’t change mine.
I’m spending less and less time on Facebook anymore, because of the divisive nature of it. I don’t see it as a way of building bridges, but of building walls. (Cue Trump!)
